Failure Perfectionism

Fears are the Stories We Tell Ourselves

Is fear limiting you from living the life you want to live? As perfectionists, we live controlled lifestyles because we are afraid of rejection and failure. We avoid the things that we’re scared of because we worry about the unknown. This might keep us safe, but we’ll never be able to live the life that we want to live if we don’t move outside our comfort zone.

26-year-old Michelle Poler is conquering one fear a day for 100 days in her project 100 Days Without Fear. Her fears range from the everyday like holding a cat, to the adventurous like skydiving, to the emotional like going unnoticed for a day. Cheryl Strayed said “fear to a great extent is born of a story we tell ourselves.” Your fear cannot be measured by anyone other than you, and conquering it can be pretty easy once you get out of your own way.

List a few of your fears. I challenge you to pick one and let the fear go. It doesn’t have to be perfect. doesn’t even have to be good. You just have to be willing to try.
