Often, we move so quickly through the holidays that we don’t have a chance to enjoy it. We can’t afford all of the presents. The gifts we still have to buy. The pile of Christmas party invites. We worry about where everyone will sleep, what everyone will eat, how we’ll keep the family happy…
When things get stressful, “stop, look, and then go.” Because we rarely take the time to slow down, we forget that every moment is a new opportunity to be grateful for.
This beautiful talk by Brother David Steindl-Rast teaches us that: “It is not happiness that makes us grateful. It’s gratefulness that makes us happy.”
Remember to be grateful for what is given to you, whether those things are big or small. Nothing will be more powerful in spreading joy this Christmas.
