“There are many things that seem impossible only as long as one does not attempt them.” -André Gide⠀
It’s been a busy week at The Imperfectionist, where we’ve been sharing a new post every day. We wrote about WebMD Syndrome, the tendency to think in worst-case scenarios, escaping the Escape Artist Mindset, Perfect Percival Priggs, a great Imperfectionist book for children, and more. We’d love to hear what you think. Send us an email or tweet to us!
Here are some things we thought were worth sharing this week:
- Multitasking is overrated. Explore Personal Kanban, an organization system based on a Japanese concept created by Toyota. As someone who often takes on too many projects at once, I’ll be setting up my post-it notes today. To learn more, check out the book, Personal Kanban: Mapping Work | Navigating Life.
- A National Geographic article about the world’s happiest places. Each place is vastly different in how they measure happiness
- We continue to express our love of Ocean Vuong’s work by sharing his wonderful interview with the Creative Independent.
- Song we’ve listened to on repeat: “In My Mind” by Amanda Palmer, an anthem for Imperfectionists.
- If you work alone, here are some ways that you can manage your sanity, according to Jocelyn K. Glei: Set your intention for tomorrow tonight. Use a shut-down ritual to end your work day. Schedule in play. Wear a uniform when you work. Schedule in your social media time.
- TV show on my watch list: Fear{Less} with Tim Ferriss. If you’ve seen it, what do you think?
- Our favorite book lists this week: Ryan Holiday’s 36 books every ambitious person should read and Tyler Cowen’s Best Non-Fiction Books of 2017.
- There’s no better cure for writer’s block, anxiety, unease, restlessness, or insecurity than exercise. Why exercise is good for the brain.
